5 Proven Benefits Of A Low Carb Diet + Recipe

Everyone used to look at you funny when you said you were on a low carb diet years ago and some of those so called low carb diets were loaded with so much fat so you ended up eating more calories than you should have been.

Over the years there have been more than 20 human studies and the low carb diet strategy has been refined and dialed in.  What constitutes a low carb diet now is much different than it was 10 years ago.

Here are 5 proven benefits to following a low carb diet and why you should at least incorporate 2-3 days a week to low carb eating.

 1.  Low Carb Diets Suppress Your Appetite

When individuals reduce their carbohydrate intake and eat more lean protein and healthy fats their appetite goes down.  Many times they end up eating less overall calories during the day.

2.  Low Carb Diets Generate More Weight Loss

In the various research studies that have been conducted those who participated in low carb diets consistently lose more weight than those on low fat diets.  There are many factors in play here including low carb intake of course, less water storage as well as less sodium intake which also reduces water retention.

3.  Low Carb Diet Fat Loss Tends To Come From Visceral Fat

Visceral fat is fat that tends to accumulate around the abdomen and around your organs.  This is considered the dangerous fat.  A low carb diet appears to better at getting rid of this type of fat compared to other diets.

This is a good thing because visceral fat is what causes metabolic issues, may lead to diseases and so forth.

4.  Low Carb Diets Reduce Blood Sugar Levels

High blood sugar levels leads to weight gain, insulin resistance and ultimately type 2 diabetes if not controlled.  When you consistently consume too many sugars your body keeps producing insulin to try and store all that excess sugar.  Over time this system starts to break down and fall apart.

You first end up with insulin resistance and if not controlled you will get Type 2 Diabetes.

The great thing about this is if detected early enough you can easily reverse all of it by following a low carb diet.  Your body will become more efficient at burning the calories you consume.  It also won’t have to contend with all those sugars allowing your system to start repairing itself and reversing the insulin resistance.

5.  Low Carb Diets Are Very Effective Against Metabolic Syndrome

A low carb diet is one of the few diets if not only diet that can improve all 5 symptoms of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome consists of these symptoms:

Abdominal obesity
High blood pressure
High triglycerides
High blood sugar levels (fasting)
Low HDL cholesterol levels (your good cholesterol)

Metabolic syndrome is one of the leading causes of Type 2 Diabetes.  Fix these symptoms and prevent yourself from getting Type 2 Diabetes.

Do you have any of these metabolic syndrome symptoms right now?

Have you ever tried a low carb diet before?  What were your experiences with it?  Good or Bad.
